It doesn't break ABI, after talking to some of the devs, there is no
plan on releasing a 24.1 unless the protocol version changes or as you
say, the ABI.

That page outlines the backported fixes to stabilize the tree.
If you need a hand with anything, let me know. I'm more than willing
to help. Though I'm working on the perl side of things for myth atm.
