acroread no longer opens pdf portfolios

I have an up to date Debian wheezy/testing box. I have acroread
9.4.2-0.0 installed from
debian-multimedia.org. Up until a week or so ago, I was able to read
pdf portfolios off of a cd.
I am not sure what has changed, but something that has recently hit
testing has caused
acroread to no longer be able to read the pdf portfolios. I am trying
to read the same one that I
was able to read a week or so ago and all I get is a black window in
acroread. It never brings up
the portfolio like it used to. It does not give any errors either.

Any ideas on what has changed or how to fix it?
