I can't tell if it was a new dependency added to
xbmc-bin-10.1+git20110912-0.1 just recently uploaded, or an update in
LMDE on the libpulse0 package, but this did work fine a couple weeks
ago, but won't let me install XBMC anymore:

xbmc-bin : Depends: libpulse0 (>= 0.99.1) but 0.9.23-1 is to be installed
