My experience with KDE4 is that the only the gstreamer phonon backend works
well. Everything else seems to give me audio skipping (for starters).

But as I have VLC from DMO loaded, I checked and found that interestingly,
/usr/lib/libvlc.so.5.3.0 doesn't seem to exist on my amd64 system:

$/usr/lib# find / -iname "libvlc.so.5.3.0"
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libvlc.so.5.3.0

And that looks like a file rather than a softlink:

$ls -l /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libvlc.so.5.3.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 105656 Apr 7 13:36 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/libvlc.so.5.3.0

I'm also not having any problems using VLC, but I'm also not using the VLC
phonon backend.
