I just upgraded from myth 0.25.2 -> 0.26 in testing, and found that
mythbackend, among other things, wouldn't start. The key error was

Literally, it could not run the ping program, which was not on my
system.
Installing iputils-ping fixed it. I believe this was called
inetutils-ping in earlier releases. I guess it needs to be a dependency
of the myth backend.
