You can change your sources.list for just deb-multimedia to "unstable",
install vlc and its dependencies, then change your sources.list back to
"testing". You only need to change the deb-multimedia repo, because vlc
doesn't depend on anything in the standard Debian Sid repo. Therefore,
this will have no long term ill effect.
