I'm just using it this way regularily. I just tested now that there is
no sound problem in vlc.
Sveral (two or three) upgrade ago all audio output device vanished, I
had only 'dummy' or something like that. After next upgrade and reboot
the situation seemed to return to normal, but it's the first time I run
MythTV after this problem.
