vlc problems?

Anyone else having problems with vlc? It doesn't want to go to
display full screen, it just maximizes the window but displays
original sized video. Also appears that things are offset, if I click
on something I end up going somewhere I didn't expect. So I have to go
back and click on a menu item below what I wanted to actually get what
I wanted.

Using version 2.2.2-4 currently.
