The problem appears to be with libvdpau-va-gl1, as soon as I remove
that package/library, I don't have issues anymore. So it seems to be
related to
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=813370
or it's a regression of that bug, perhaps. Not sure.
